It seemed like the holidays snuck up on us fast this year! I guess that happens when you give birth in late November - December passes in a blur (mastitis, thrush, Ella and Eli sick with colds), and before you know it, you have a 1 month old and it's time for Christmas!
We had some wonderful times over the holidays! We spent Christmas Eve with Chris's family, opening presents, eating good food, and loving the 2 new babies in the family! (Emerson's cousin Harper was born 10 days before him!)
We spent Christmas day at church, and then with my family. Emerson had his baby blessing at church on Christmas morning! Then we headed out to the farm for more presents and Christmas dinner. This Christmas is the first time since 1998 that all of my siblings have been together, and it was a great visit. Ella and Eli had some awesome jam sessions with their Uncle Sean! We spent the night out there and had some more fun on Boxing Day with family pictures, dinner out, and a movie.
With Christmas over, it was time to get ready for our next adventure - we spent 2 days packing and getting the house in order before we headed on a road trip to Winnipeg. Our first night there, Chris and I (and Emerson!) attended a Winnipeg Jets game. Also highlights of our stop there were hanging out with Grandad and Kim, and also Uncle Sean (who hitched a ride with us), haircuts at the Hair Do Zoo for both Eli and Ella, and an evening at an indoor playcentre.
Not so bright, but very early on the 1st of January we started the next legs of our journey: an 8 hour drive to Minneapolis, an hour flight to Chicago, 5 hours in the Chicago airport, a 4 hour flight to Phoenix, and an hour drive to Chris's parents house in Queen Creek. After 22 solid hours....we were more than ready to arrive at our destination!
We spent the rest of the week in Phoenix and had fun swimming in the pool (Ella turned in to a fish!), playing at the park, and riding rides at a little kiddie amusement park.
Then we started our long journey home again and arrived back on January 6th, ready to get back to the daily grind! The kids started their dance classes the next morning, and with Ella back in school and Chris back at work the next week, we've been chugging along ever since!
